Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb fresh oyster mushrooms cleaned and trimmed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce optional for extra flavor
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme or rosemary chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional

Instructions
 

Prepare the mushrooms:

  • Gently wipe the oyster mushrooms with a damp cloth or brush off any dirt. Trim the stems and cut the mushrooms into bite-sized pieces if needed.

Sauté the garlic:

  • Heat the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant, stirring occasionally.

Cook the mushrooms:

  • Add the oyster mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and tender.

Season:

  • Stir in the soy sauce (if using), thyme or rosemary, salt, and pepper. Continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.

Garnish and serve:

  • Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately as a side dish or over pasta, rice, or grains.

Notes

  • Cooking tip: Oyster mushrooms cook quickly, so be careful not to overcook them. They should be tender and lightly golden, not mushy.
  • Add-ins: For extra flavor, try adding a splash of white wine, balsamic vinegar, or a squeeze of lemon juice.
  • Storage: Leftover cooked oyster mushrooms can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat to preserve their texture.
